Sri Lanka also known as: Ceylon, Pearl of the Orient, Teardrop of India, Resplendent Isle, Island of Dharma is a

small island situated in the Indian ocean beneath India. The colourful collections of names tries to capture the

richness and beauty of the island. Visitors are moved by the diversity of culture and nature on the island that

varies between snows tipped mountains in Sigiriya, lush green hills with tea plantations in Nuwara Eliya,

savannah with wildlife including leopards and elephants, rainforests and last but not least long

stretches of palmed lined golden sandy beaches and as for culture? ancient Buddhist temples hidden in

the rain forest, kandyan dancers, devil dancers, processions of elephants, ruined cities. As Marco Polo

CLIMATE

Climatically the driest and best seasons runs from November through April on the west and south coasts.

During this time days are warm, however in our Resort there is always a lovely breeze and evenings are cool.

Dickwella Resort has a special micro climate due to the location between the two monsoon zones,

therefore in the east monsoon which is in summer time we are very light affected by rain.

The sea is blue and unpolluted and our guests can enjoy safely bathing all year round.

LANGUAGE

Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages of Sri Lanka, although English is widely spoken.

CURRENCY

The national currency is the Rupee. It is divided into 100 cents. Traveller’s cheques are easy to cash and some Banks in larger towns have ATMs.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

No Visa required for visitors who stay less than 1 month. For extensions enquiries should be directed to the nearest Sri Lanka Embassy or Consulate.
